Problem statement

A leading global player in the recycling of lead-acid batteries specified stack emissions levels never before achieved while meeting aggressive production goals. The smelters generated hot gas in the region of 480F (250C).

Nederman MikroPul solution

The solution allowed the manufacturer to meet his compliance goals while maintaining exacting maintenance standards and output goals. The MikroPul design allowed 8 baghouse modules to operate independently so that one of the 8 could be taken offline while allowing full production. The emissions goals of 0.2mg/m3 were met. The top removal technology allowed ease of access to the clean side of the filters. HEPA elements were included in the design, should the main filter performance be compromised. In normal operation the HEPA loading would be low, while affording valuable time for corrective actions should the upstream filter elements be compromised. Broken-bag particle sensing technology further reduced maintenance costs while keeping employees and the general public safe. This sensing technology identifies the exact row of bag leakage, allowing rapid isolation of the problem and lower expectation of release to atmosphere.

Basic statistics: 8 module pulse-jet baghouse systems in a 2x4 arrangement for total flow of 130,000 ACFM (220,871 cu. m/h).
The current status: All systems are in full production.
