Wet Scrubbers - Mikro-Vane Scrubber

MikroPul's first wet scrubber design was the Mikro-Vane. Simple, effective, and up to 90% efficient at around 3 micron. Here's how it works.

So let's talk about the first scrubber - Mikro-Vane Scrubber. Mikro-Vane Scrubber is the first scrubber MikroPul developed a long time ago. As you can see at the bottom, the dirty gas enters at the bottom and it goes through the scrubbing vanes.

Now the scrubbing vanes look like an airplane engine turbine. So if you look outside the window when you're on a plane and look at the engine blades they look very similar to the scrubbing vanes in the Mikro-Vane Scrubber.

So all your impaction and interception takes place within the scrubbing vane. So when air is trying to come up through that open slot water is going through it, so you have contact between air, solid, and water droplets

Once it passes through that so all the solids go down in the water to the bottom air comes up with the water droplets. So instead of a cyclonic separator we use mist eliminator vanes which are pretty much the reverse from the bottom vanes.

Any water droplets trying to go out will hit the blades and fall back down and your clean air comes out. The Mikro-Vane Scrubber generally speaking is a 90% efficiency at about 3 micron range, but liquid to gas ratio is very low. It uses only 2 - 4 L/G; That means 2 gallon for every 1000 acfm of saturated airflow.

Also the pressure drop is very low; It operates between only 3 - 6 inches pressure drop and generally it's used for drying or de-dusting and in the old days we used it in the sugar industry as well as the mining industry.

Capacity usually ranges between 1000 cfm to 60,000 acfm, so we can ship it in one piece.
